There Is A Purpose To Your Circumstances

Deuteronomy 1:6 The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.’

AD!

The children of Israel, after they left Egypt, spent 40 years in the wilderness. The Bible says in verse 2  of Deuteronomy that it is an 11 days journey. But they have just been circling around Mount Horeb.

God promised to give them Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey. However, 40 years after they left Egypt, they were nowhere near Canaan.

Imagine how tempting it was for them to think that God lied, or that He wasn’t able to fulfill His promise.

Remember that they are coming from Egypt, a land where they were exposed to different gods. A land where they acquired many pagan practices and where they were used to suffering.

God Can Be Trusted!

Whatever the Lord has promised you, God can be trusted. You may just be at your Mount Horeb. Quit complaining. There is a purpose to your circumstances.

Mount Horeb is the mountain of purification. Being purified from idolatry, being purified from murmuring, being purified until you are ready to possess the promise. Being purified from complaining, until you learn to wait.

This is a mountain of separation. Separation from dream killers, separation from people who can’t go with you to your next level, separation from those who cripple your faith, such as the men who accompanied Caleb and Joshua.

This is a mountain of growth. Joshua and Caleb could confidently declare how they will have victory over the giants by the hand of the Lord, because they had grown in their faith.

This is a mountain of preparation for the promise. The earlier you learn to trust in Him, the earlier you will move out. Dwell “long enough” does not indicate a period of time, it indicates full development of character, ripeness and how ready you are for the promise.

What are you trusting God for, and what are you doing in your waiting season? Are you complaining? Are you magnifying your circumstances before God instead of magnifying God before your circumstances?

It Is Time

Are you living in sin? It is time to get rid of foreign gods and foreign practices. It is time to replace murmuring with praise.

It is time to grow your faith and start preparing to receive the manifestation of God’s promises. Start rehearsing your testimony.

Congratulations on your baby. Congratulations on your promotion. Congratulations on your new job. Congratulations on a debt relief! I repeat, GOD CAN BE TRUSTED!

Let Us Pray

Dear Lord, as I wait on the manifestation of Your promises over my life this year, purify me. Purify my heart and my intentions. Heavenly Father, let my heart be right before You.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalms 37:7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Separate me from dream killers and anything that will cripple my faith. Help me to grow into full maturity and let my character be pleasing before You.

Teach me to wait on you and take advantage of my circumstances by praising your name. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

Psalms 37:34 Wait on the Lord, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
