The Holy Spirit Warns Us Of Danger
Acts 21:11 And coming to us, he took Paul’s belt and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this way, the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
In Acts 21, the prophet warned Paul of the upcoming danger. In this instance, Paul had the opportunity to avoid the danger, but he chose instead to face it head-on. This was not always the case. There were instances when Paul chose to evade the danger.
Acts 9:23-25 After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him, 24 but Saul learned of their plan. Day and night they kept a close watch on the city gates in order to kill him. 25 But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.
The Lord is always there for us. When we seek Him and develop a personal relationship with Him, he will work in our lives in powerful ways. The Holy Spirit is our companion. The Holy Spirit guides and directs our ways, and warns us.
God’s warnings come in various forms, and we need to be able to recognize them. Some of us experience dreams. Some have visions. Many of us need to train ourselves to listen to His voice.
God’s warnings come in various forms: a challenging word from a friend; a story from a pastor’s sermon; a still, small voice inside letting you know it’s not right; and the unavoidable truth of God’s Word.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, teach me to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Give me the grace to be in tune with His voice. Make me sensitive to His voice at all times. Grant me discernment that I may know His voice and follow it.
Oh Lord, may I always be willing and ready to listen to Your calling and follow as You direct. Come Holy Spirit and walk with me. Be with me in my going out and in my coming in. Be my guide in everything that I do. Let me walk by your active leading and guidance in the name of Jesus. Amen.
