The Gift of God
(Today’s post is by ChristiansTT writer: Genevieve Nangit)
I am always a child at heart, even at the age of 40. I love receiving gifts. I enjoy the activity of unwrapping and using the items.
It is fun to show to everyone that what I am using was given to me, something that I did not buy for myself, but someone bought for me.
The idea that the giver knows me very well agrees with the saying “It is the thought that counts”, because the person was very confident that I would use her gift.
This feeling reminds me of Paul’s letter to the Colossians. He said in Colossians 1: 9-10
“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
I was overwhelmed when I realize that God’s gift for me is His will. Imagine, I am receiving a gift from the creator of the universe, the ruler of all mankind.
Someone like me is a recipient of His generosity. Wow! I can’t wait to open His gift! And there is more, someone prayed for it.
Forever Christmas!
The chosen apostle of Christ, the intelligent and charismatic Paul prayed for that gift even before I was born. He made sure that my faith in Christ and love for the saints will not go unnoticed by God.
He petitioned for me, requested gifts for me, he was bold in Christ. And now, I lack nothing. I will always be filled. My age is not a hindrance to keep on receiving presents. I am forever young. It is forever Christmas!
I can almost hear His voice, telling me, “Open it! Unbox it! Use it!” Enough of pleasing the eyes, it’s time to enjoy the present.
Using God’s Gifts
My Lord demands I use His gift because it includes a loyalty reward. He made sure I will not be separated from Him. That is, the more I use the gift, there are more fruits. That is awesome. He had it all figured out.
Jesus Christ exclusively made the gift for me, not perishable, self-charging, delivered to my door. It was made and wrapped by God, like the clear night sky filled with stars.
Let Us Pray
Thank you Jesus Christ because you know me as no one else can. You have my best interest in your heart and your word.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Though there are times that my mind is not in sync with your will, you never falter. Despite my unfaithfulness, you never give up on me. Your gifts are irrevocable regardless of my behavior, attitude, and mindset.
1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
My Lord, my God, You are so gracious and merciful. You never failed to remind me of that. May I honor your mind and testify of Your glory and blessings. Truly, you are my Savior. Amen.
