Prayer When You Feel Like Giving Up on God
Life can be so hard at times. Unfair things can happen. Family can abandon us. Colleagues at work can reject us or look down on us. And we end up wanting to give up on our Maker.
The Lord Jesus did not promise us a life free from hardships, but He promised to be with us through it all. He said in the world we will have trouble, but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. Everyone who wants to follow Jesus will be persecuted, rejected and ridiculed.
2 Timothy 3:12. Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
John 16:33. I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer! For I have overcome the world.
Hebrews 13:5. Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
When things get tough, get closer to the Lord. Remain in the Word and remain in prayer and worship.
Let Us Pray
Dear Lord, I feel alone and discouraged. Sometimes I even feel like giving up on You. Things have been hard and they don’t seem to be getting any better.
Heavenly Father, inflation, high prices, energy and food costs have me worried and very concerned. Every day, my income can purchase less than the day before.
But where do I go if I choose to give up on You Lord? No one else can satisfy the longing in my soul.
No one can take your place. There is none upon the earth that I desire. Yes my flesh and my heart can fail me, but You oh Lord are my Strength and my portion forever.
Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Psalms 73:25-26. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Please strengthen my heart to serve You. You said in Your Word that I should draw near to You and You will draw near to me. Today, I humbly draw near to You, oh Lord, my Maker.
You have also said that You will sustain me until I am old and gray. Lord, I believe. I trust You. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
Galatians 6:9. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
James 1:12. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
