Prayer: Get Better, Not Bitter
We all experience undesirable situations: offenses, disappointments, rejections, failures and the loss of loved ones.
But when things come crushing down, when life seems to worsen, when people try to hurt, disappoint or reject you, get better, not bitter.
Do not let circumstances dictate how you feel. Yes, you can grieve or feel bad for a moment, but don’t stay down. Get back up. Dust yourself. Choose joy in the midst of challenges. Get better. Learn from it and bounce back even better.
Why be joyful? Because God’s love for you is consistent. He loves you the same through it all. His love for you is unconditional and everlasting. He is always with you in all your troubles.
He says, when you go through the waters of hurt and loss, HE will be with you. When you go through the rivers of hopelessness, they will not sweep over you. When you go through the fire of rejection and failure, you will not be burnt, and the flames will not scorch you.
Isaiah 43:2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.
Let Us Pray
Dear Lord, thank You for Your Word which is a lamp unto my feet. I am so grateful for Your Word, which is Spirit and life to me. I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Ephesians 4:31. Put aside all bitterness, losing your temper, anger, shouting, and slander, along with every other evil.
Oh Lord, there are things I’ve gone through and experienced, that make me want to stay away and be bitter.
But, your word tells me that I should get rid of all bitterness and anger. Lord, It has not been easy, but today, I trust in You to help me overcome. I will not lean on my own understanding.
Romans 12:21. Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.
Heavenly Father, take all my pain, my grief, my hurt and my disappointment. Give me strength to conquer. Help me to get better, not bitter.
May I learn from my circumstances and past experiences, and become better. Let me learn patience, endurance, forgiveness, humility, kindness and contentment.
Give me the strength to forgive and love my offenders. Help me to get rid of any bitterness and anger. Bless me with the grace to put on the mind of Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen
