Prayer for the Overburdened

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

AD!

We have all experienced times in our lives where everything seems to be crashing down upon us, all at the same time. We are carrying around too much of a burden, each and every day.

When burdens become too heavy, even the mighty can sink. Filling our lives with activities that lead us away from the Lord increases our burdens. We get distracted and focus on these things instead of clinging to God.

Lay your burdens at the Lord. “Strip off every weight that slows you down”. What weight or sin is slowing you down? Are you carrying around hatred, resentment, bitterness, envy, lust, anger, shame? Is there someone you need to truly forgive?

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Let’s pray.

Oh Heavenly Father, today I am overwhelmed by the burdens of this life. I’m stressed and worried. I’m filled with envy, anger and bitterness.

Lord, be my rock. Be my strength. Let me lay my burdens at your feet. Release me from the bondage of sin and build me up. Strengthen my faith. I release it all to you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
