Prayer: Breaking loose from Generational Patterns, Sins and Curses

Many of us are born into families that have a  background of idolatry, anti-marriage, poverty, witchcraft, sickness, depression, alcoholism, or other negative patterns. You will find that, through the generations, everyone in your extended family may die prematurely or don’t marry.

Alicia shared her story with me:

“My family has suffered from generational curses, patterns and sins. When I was young, a lot of people in my family committed suicide. It went on until I got born again, and then I started praying against it and disconnecting everyone. Moreover, I am the first person to go to university. A lot of girls in my family fall pregnant before they get to 9th grade and drop out of school, while the boys turn to alcohol. I do not want to touch on marriage, because I only know one person who was married in my family, but they have separated now. I believe it was by God’s grace that I passed high school and got to varsity and without a child.”

Our environment, family genes, family foods, household behaviors, and even our friends all help shape how we behave and approach life on a daily basis. Negative surroundings can drain us and take away our dreams and even Godly desires. But as a child of God, you have it within you to pull away from these things.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

We are children of the living God. We can choose to call upon the Holy Spirit for power to overcome life challenges.  Jesus promised that He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

Here are our weapons:

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”

Let us  Pray

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me unconditionally. Thank You for sending Your only Son, Jesus Christ, to become a curse that Your blessing might come upon a gentile that I was. Thank You Lord that in Christ, I am free indeed, as it is written that whoever the Son sets free is free indeed.

Lord, it is a privilege to be your child. Your word says that if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away, and behold new things have come! Lord, thank You that I am new, and my family’s sins have passed away, according  to your Word.

It doesn’t matter if they worshiped idols, if they sold my generation in exchange for wealth, if they visited spiritualists and crystal gazers, if they practiced new age witchcraft or if they committed something that made the family to receive a curse. I am a new creation that is dedicated and sold to Jesus .

I therefore break loose from every generational sin, curse, and pattern that runs in my family in the name of Jesus Christ.  I break loose from every bloodline curse of premature death, suicide, unemployment and depression in the name of Jesus Christ.

I disconnect myself and my generation from every anti marriage curses, teenage pregnancies,  homosexuality, divorce, fornication and failure. I defy and renounce any idol that my generation and I have been dedicated to from long ago, and I declare and proclaim that Jesus is Lord and Savior of our lives hence forth.

Every spirit assigned to monitor me and my generation for evil, catch fire and lose your power in the name of Jesus Christ. I break every demonic patterns of depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, addictions, alcoholism and bipolar disorders in my family in the name of Jesus Christ.

I (Name) have come to change generational patterns in my family. I  have come with speed to break generational delay and limitations. I am the beginning of freedom in my family in the name of Jesus Christ. By the reason of the blood of Jesus,  I declare that my generation is delivered in Jesus name.

It is written that the blood of Jesus Christ speaks better things than the blood of Abel. The blood of Jesus is speaking for me better things day and night. The blood of Jesus is speaking remission over me day and night. Any blood speaking against me, be silenced, in the name of Jesus Christ.

I declare illegal any curse that has been following me and my generation. For the weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of every family stronghold; casting down and breaking every curse that exalts itself above the knowledge and truth of God (that Christ became a curse for me to receive the blessing of Abraham).

I am The Redeemed of the Lord. I am free from generational sins, patterns and curses in the name of Jesus and I possess all the blessings that are due to me and my generation, in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Oh somebody, go ahead and give Jesus the praise, Hallelujah!
