Prayer – Being Happy With Who You Are
Are you happy with who you are? Is there one thing (or more) you’d love to change about your physical self? Admit it – the answer is yes.
We all have felt this way at one time or the other. Maybe you’d like to change your height (tall people think they’re too tall, short people would love to have some height). You’d like to change your skin tone (some fairer skinned people would like to be darker like some of their friends and vice versa) and the list goes on and on!!!
And yet, it is this diversity that makes the world we like in so interesting. This world would be such a boring place if we all looked and sounded the same and had the same talents. Wouldn’t that make our God a boring, unimaginative God?
He isn’t though. In Genesis 1, when God created the entire earth and everything in it, that took a lot of imagination. Then He created man. Genesis 1: 26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” and after His creation “God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31).
Now we know God is not a liar (Numbers 23:19), so if God said His creation was very good, then who are you and I to say any different? The issue is we focus too much on the minor and do not fix our eyes upon the relevant matters.
Ephesians 1: 11-12 (says) “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”
God took the time to create each one of us and placed in us different combinations of talents and skills, personalities and temperaments. Don’t go about trying to fit into other peoples’ shoes. You will find that you are more frustrated – because you weren’t created to be like that. Find out who you are in Christ today, and then have the courage to be that person. The world is waiting on the other side of your obedience!
Let Us Pray
Oh Great Lamb of God, I worship You as You sit high upon the throne of grace and mercy. Thank You, Lord, for all You have done for me. I give thanks for all the marvelous blessings You continually shower me with.
Lord, You know my daily struggles. You alone know what I am going through. I pray that you open my mind to acknowledge my own identity, and not be swayed by the negative influences of others. May I become all that you intended me to be, Lord.
Remind me that I am Your child, and I am of royalty and nothing and no one can prove differently. Set my paths straight so that it leads to You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
