Prayer: A New Year, A New Me!

Today, we were having prayers with my friend, and she said something quite funny,  yet true. She said: “I have made mistakes already this year, This year should restart!”.

AD!

I almost screamed because it was as if she was talking about me. I have already made mistakes, and I wish the year could restart, so I can start it in style. I’m sure most of us reading this have also made mistakes. The truth is, the date is not what matters, but new versions of us do!

A new year without a new you is not really new, because you don’t experience newness but just a change of dates.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. – 2 Corinthians 4:16

This year, we want to be new. We want to approach each day with the mind-set of Christ. We want to walk in the boldness and faith that comes from an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God.

We are not going to walk in uncertainty, but we will take bold steps toward our goals and resolutions because we know who is ordering our steps.

Psalms 37:23 NLT The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives.

Let Us Pray

Dear Lord, thank You once again for giving me an opportunity to step into this new year. It is not because I am more righteous and better than those who didn’t make it. But your grace carried me here because You are not done with me.

Lord, I have my plans and resolutions for the year written down. I do not only want to be in a new year, but I want to be a new person this year.

Every carryover’s of unforgiveness, pain of the past, habitual sin, hatred, prayerlessness, not reading the Bible daily and beefing with people, I drop them now in the name of Jesus Christ.

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Change me from within, Lord. Give me a new mind-set towards myself, my goals, other people and life in general. It is written, as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.

Proverbs 23:7a KJV For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…
