Becoming More Like Jesus
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing the division of the soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
As we strive to become more like Jesus, we see some very important aspects in His life.
Prayer was very prominent. He even asks us to pray for our enemies. In Matthew 5:44, He puts it this way: “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Praying for others develops an attitude of love and compassion, very much Christ-like.
And obedience. When we earnestly serve God, doing that which He has commanded, change is inevitable. Let’s look at Romans 6:16:
Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
When God is our Master, we obey Him and in so doing, we are transformed.
