Prayer – I Have The Mind Of Christ
Bad thoughts, thoughts of jealousy, anger, bitterness, thoughts of judgement towards others, fear, guilt, or self condemnation, weigh us down and draw us away from the grace of God. These thoughts are not aligned with the will of God for us.
Joyce shared this:
“I struggled with insulting thoughts. My mind would insult everyone, including God. When I talk to people, my mouth would say one thing, but my mind would say something different, and evil. I also suffered so much from lust, that I will undress men wherever I went. My mind was literally the devil’s play ground. I felt lost, unforgivable and in total darkness.”
As these thoughts become ingrained, you feel your sins have gone off limits. You have harbored the most evil or lustful thoughts. You feel that God is angry at you. You feel hopeless and lost. You struggle daily to pray and meditate on the Word of God. Instead of fleeing to God, you run and hide.
Philippians 4:8. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.
What we think about daily makes a big difference in our spiritual life. Jesus came to free us and release us from the clutches of sin. He himself was tempted in all things. He is our high Priest, to listen to and advocate on our behalf.
Hebrews 4:15. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:16. Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
Let Us Pray
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for being a High Priest who can relate to and sympathize with my weaknesses. Thank You for loving me even though I feel like an outcast. You do not look at my sins, but instead at the price You paid on the cross.
My God, I’m in desperate need. I feel stuck forever in this mind which is full of bad thoughts towards others and myself. I try my best to not concentrate on these thoughts, but they have held me captive. I feel powerless, caught up in a negative cycle.
1 Corinthians 2:16. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Heavenly Father, please come and renew my mind. Your word says that I have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ does not harbor jealousy, envy and ungodly thoughts.
I come boldly before Your glorious throne that I may receive mercy and obtain grace to help in this time of need. I’m in desperate need right now. Let your grace speak for me.
I declare that I have the mind of Christ, and Christ is being formed in me daily as I meditate on the Word of God. I declare that my mind is renewed and born anew.
My mind is pure, and my thoughts are aligned with the thoughts of God. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, I pray and declare, Amen.
In Closing
Finally, the Bible says in John 15:3. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
It is the word of God that will purify you completely. Remain in His word and trust Him for complete purification and renewal of your mind. Remain in Him, He will remain in you, and you shall bear much fruit.
John 15:4. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
