Prayer for Comfort When You Are Hurting Emotionally
From time to time, we all experience deep, emotional pain. Hurt and pain because of what others have done to us. A deep, penetrating pain that can’t go away.
You are trying so hard to forgive. Yet, day by day, you find yourself hurting so much and replaying the experience in your mind.
You need to let go, and truly forgive, so that you can heal. Even after forgiving them, the painful thoughts may still come back. But release them to the Lord.
Do not dwell on the hurtful feelings. Whatever you nurture, grows, whatever you neglect, dies. Give your time and attention to nurturing what truly matters to you, the Word of God.
The Lord is your comfort and peace. He is near to you when your heart is in pain, and He will bind up your wounds. People can, and will, hurt you, but the Lord never will. He rejoices over you with a song.
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Let Us Pray
Dear Lord, I am hurting. The pain in my heart is weighing me down. I have put my trust so much in people, but now I am hurt. When I say I have forgiven them, the pain will prove me wrong and resurface again.
Please Lord, I need You. I can’t take the pain anymore. Draw nearer to me, my God. I’m in desperate need of your comfort. Take away this pain and heal my heart. Help me to truly let go of every hurtful feeling and experience.
Give me victory over this pain. Give me victory over this unforgiveness. Give me victory over this bitterness. Let me crush it under my feet, dear Lord.
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
You said that I will have trouble in this world but in You I will find my peace, for You have overcome the world. Let the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind.
And, may the God of hope fill me with all joy and peace, as I trust in Him. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
In closing, let me leave you with this verse.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
