???? Habits of Successful Christians! Part 1 – Prayer and Meditation
Hi! Brothers and sisters in Christ! Welcome back, and a blessed and wonderful day to you! Let’s take a few minutes to relax and meditate on God’s Word. Today we start a mini series on the Daily habits of successful Christians.
A doctor was counseling his patient about a problem with his weight. “I don’t know what the problem is doctor. I just can’t seem to get rid of this flab. Maybe I have an overactive thyroid.” To which the doctor replied, “Listen, I’ve run tests and your thyroid is fine. If anything’s overactive it’s your fork.”
Success is often a result of the habits you develop over time. When you examine the lives of successful people and successful Christians, they all have certain habits that they incorporate into their daily routine.
What is your daily routine? Does it set you up for success or just for surviving the day? Our morning routine and our daily habits can either break or make us!
Today we look at – Prayer and Meditation.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says it very simply. “Pray without ceasing,”
Effective Christians have an active Prayer life. And while prayer is the act of “talking to God”, meditation is the act of “listening to God,”. When you set aside your prayer and meditation time, have a pen and journal ready. Write down anything that comes to you during that time, as simple as it may seem.
The Bible calls on us to “meditate on the word of God”.
Genesis (24:63) states: “And Isaac went out to meditate in the fields at the eventide, and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and behold the camels were coming.”
Also, in Joshua 1:8: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Jesus prayed at every step of His ministry. John the Apostle was in prayer when he had the vision to write the book of Revelation. Paul prayed constantly for direction in his ministry. Lydia was at a prayer meeting when converted.
The habit of prayer is what keeps us tuned in to God and sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Without the habit of prayer the noisy demands of the world and the impulses of our flesh are all we ever hear. The effective Christian succeeds in keeping the faith and growing in faith because he stays in touch with the Spirit of God through prayer.
Let us pray
Heavenly Father, I pray for the discipline to develop my daily prayer and meditation habits. May I make this time with You and Your word an important daily start to my day. Bless me oh Lord, with Your Holy wisdom. Give me the strength and determination to persevere and overcome any obstacles to developing my new habits. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Psalm 1:1-3. Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.
