Prayer To Relax
Are you stressed, worried, anxious about things in your life? Are you struggling to find solutions? The more you struggle, the worse it seems to get.
But the Bible reminds us:
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
It’s not easy to release everything unto the Lord. This is an act of faith. But, as your faith grows, and you see the manifestations of the Lord’s work in your life, it becomes easier.
What do you do to relax and unwind?
In the Old Testament, they were commanded to keep the Sabbath. The principle was simple – no form of work on the Sabbath day. Take one day off from work. And years ago, many businesses observed this. Businesses, stores and supermarkets or groceries were closed on a Sunday. Today, that has all changed and we have a 7 day work week. However, you should still take that one day to unwind and relax. This is a great time to seek the Lord.
The pandemic has given many of us forced time off. For many, that comes with its own problems. We are spending more time with our children, and learning first hand how difficult it may be to teach them.
Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
One of the most common causes of a lack of relaxation is the feeling of insecurity. That’s what trouble is. What is causing your insecurities? Fear of the future? The need for some form of income? Family stresses?
Let us Pray
Heavenly and Loving Father, I give you all honor and praise. Lord, I’m struggling to relax. So many stresses and fears confront me. But You, oh Lord, are my comfort. In you, I am made strong.
I leave all of my worries and anxiety with you, Lord. Ease my burden and lighten my load of stress.
I place all my trust in you. I no longer lean on my own understanding. May I acknowledge you in everything I do, that you may make my paths straight.
Allow me to relax today and rest peacefully tonight, as joy rises with You in the morning. Embrace me in Your comforting arms, as I am healed and touched by the power of Your warm love. In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.
