Joshua 1:8 (NIV) – Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

As Joshua faced the Promised Land, he was fearful. He had everything in the world going for him, and yet, he was very afraid. Joshua had taken over as the leader of God’s people after Moses died. He was the one called to take them into the Promised Land. Joshua had demonstrated great faith in God, yet at this moment, he stood in fear.

God’s instruction and reassurance to him was simple. “Meditate on my Word day and night, and observe every instruction I give you. Then you will be prosperous and have good success.”

And even now, God is telling you don’t be afraid. Observe what He instructs you in His Word and follow where He leads you.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Are you delighting yourself in the Lord, or in yourself?
