The Spiritual Leech of Anger/Short-temper
Would you describe yourself as having any of the following attributes?
- Short tempered, short fuse
- touchy, easily offended, overly sensitive
- out of control, anger, rage
One sign of a weak spirit is anger, being short-tempered. Anger destroys your peace and disconnects you spiritually from God. It drains your energy physically and spiritually.
Colossians 3:8 – But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
Control your spirit. Don’t try to control others through sulking. When you don’t get your way, you sulk and cut everyone out. Allow yourself to be led and directed by the Holy Spirit, rather than the enemy. Become a blessing to others rather than a curse.
Proverbs 25:15 Patience and gentle talk can convince a ruler and overcome any problem.
Even at work, the Word of God has some advice for you. As it says in Ecclesiastes 10:4, If your boss is angry at you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes.
Today’s Prayer: Spiritual Warfare Prayer for self control and self-discipline
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Your Word reminds me that you care for me. As circumstances try to overwhelm me, fill me with your peace and joy. Help me to control my anger and rage, Oh Lord.
Help me not to be consumed in it. I pray that sin would not emerge as the anger infests my mind.
There are times my anger gets the better of me. Lord, I know this is not of you. And so, I pray that you grant me the peace of mind that I will not allow others to get me angry. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
