????Prayer For Resisting/Overcoming Temptation

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Temptation will come. It’s important to recognize the areas that you’re tempted in. And this will be different for every person.  

What is that one thing that can easily lead you to sin? What is that persistent temptation that you struggle with? Identify clearly what it is. 

And here’s the good news. Once you recognize what that one thing is, and learn how to defeat it, you can overcome it your whole lifetime.  

Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

The secret is prayer and being watchful. Be aware and pray ahead and even at the point of temptation. But you need to resist, by first submitting to God.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Timothy 6:11 warns us:  But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

And that includes what you watch, what you listen to, who you spend most of time entertaining. Flee from the negative and pursue the things of God! Set your mind on the things above.

Prayer:

Heavenly and merciful Father, I lay down my life before You. Lord, I humbly surrender my all to You. Help me, Oh Loving Father, to break these chains of temptation. Tear down these strongholds that are trying to weaken me. Bind every evil spirit that attempts to lure me into darkness. In Jesus name I pray, Amen..
