Overcoming Complaining

Philippians 2:14-16 Do everything without complaining and arguing so that you may be blameless and pure, innocent children of God surrounded by people who are crooked and corrupt. Among these people you shine like stars in the world because you hold on to the word of life.

Complainers focus on their circumstances and what they do not have. Are you a complainer? Or do you give the Lord praise and thanks for what you do have and the blessings on the way? Look to Your God! Our God is working behind the scenes,  the almighty God who’s providing for all our needs.

Today, you will have many opportunities to find faults and to complain. But don’t give in to the negativity. Speak life!  

The apostle Paul says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” (Ephesians 4:29). 

So instead of complaining, let’s “rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, take away this complaining spirit. Let me see your glory all around me. I’ve complained about the day, the job, my co-workers, my employers, my spouse, my children, my neighbors. 

Lord, let Your light and grace shine through me so others will be blessed where they are. Instead of complaining, I choose to bless all those I come in contact with. I choose to be a channel of Your love. In Jesus name, Amen.
