✨Prayer to build Spiritual Capacity
There are things we know are possible. We believe God can do them through us, but we somehow lack the capacity to do them, or we lack sufficient faith in God concerning them. For example, you truly believe that God is a healer, and He can heal, but there are some sicknesses that you won’t even dare pray for healing. Not necessarily because you have no faith, but because you did not develop your faith to that extend.
You may know of someone dealing with cancer, living with HIV, or born with sickle cell anemia. Probably 99% of us would rather pray for long life upon the sick person, or we will pray for general good health as they live with their sickness. This is not wrong, it just exposes how our faith and belief system has been crippled
“I remember wearing prescription glasses for about 2 years. I did believe that God is healer, but I never prayed for healing until my pastor friend reminded me of how I pray about other things except my eyes. I had isolated my eye problem to myself, but I gave every other problem to God.”
As children of God, we are not all at the same spiritual level, and this depends on our obedience and intimacy with God. How much time do we spend in the secret place of the Most High? Do we only go to God to cast our cares before Him, or we are also interested in getting to know His operations and His plans for our lives, nation, and season?
Your spiritual level has nothing to do with your calling. You can be a pastor or evangelist, but if you lack intimacy with God, you remain a baby. This also implies that you don’t need to be a pastor to grow spiritually and to slay spiritual giants. Before Jesus began His Ministry, He first reached a certain level of growth. The same for Samuel.
Hebrews 6:1-2 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
It is so unbelievable to know that the author of Hebrews regards repentance, faith, resurrection and eternal judgement as immature teachings. This is because they are the basics that we get to know first when we come to Christ. But there is something better, which is spiritual growth. Getting to know God and hear from Him yourself. Growing your faith, and getting to understand God’s Word!
Let Us Pray – ✨ Prayer to build Spiritual Capacity
Luke 18:1b Men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Dear Lord, thank You today for Your word. The entrance of your word into my Spirit gives light. Thank You Lord for this season, I believe it is my time, Lord. It is my time to walk with You!
O God, you are my God, and I long for you. My whole being desires you; like a dry, worn-out, and waterless land, my soul is thirsty for you. As the deer pants for the waters, so my soul longs for You Lord.
Psalm 119: 130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
I want to know You more. I want to learn from You. I want to know Your thoughts and plans. My God, make known to me Your ways and your operations. I pray for spiritual growth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Give me a desire for intimacy with You. Let me seek You from the rising of the sun to its setting thereof! Oh Lord, let me seek You till I find You. I’m desperate for You, Lord. Holy Spirit of God, I want to grow. Teach me to obey You, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Give me the capacity to develop my spirit man. Let me grow in faith and in the things of the Spirit. Renew my mind, and help me to believe You, according to Your word, and not the religious belief system. Open my mind to all that you can do, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.
John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
